Joss Whedon is a man of many talents, that have served him well through out his career. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father both notable television writers of their time, Joss has stepped beyond their legacy to forge an even stronger one. With his humor and determination he has managed to leave his mark forever upon the entertainment industry with the characters he created. Iconic characters that will stand the test of time and build upon this place known as the Whedonverse. Whether it is in television with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly, at the movies with Serenity and Goners, or in the comic books with Astonishing X-men, Runaways, Buffy, Fray, Angel and Serenity.
Joss never disappoints, he may tick off some with his ever famous "plot twist", but that is just one of the many reasons as to why he is respected by cast, crew, peers and fans alike. In all that he does there is a challenge that forces his audience to engage with the characters that he has created. To watch something Joss Whedon has created is not to be the passive viewer or reader on the adventure. There is no "just along for the ride", he can make your heart break and then heal, his writing can make you laugh until your gut hurts, then he will twist your guts into knots of anger. Joss Whedon's writing has always been consistant in its ability to make you feel the rawest of emotion.

Joss does not only believe what he writes, he does something about it and is not afraid to use the power of the ‘verse he created to help. By engaging fan support, he has made people aware of causes like Equality Now, an organization that seeks equality for women around the world. Plus it doesn't hurt if by accomplishing his goals, that he won't be asked 'Why do you write such strong female characters?' anymore.
He has also donated his time and talent to help his friends, by joining with other comic book writers and artists in completing the Superman/Batman #26 comic book. This was originally started by Sam Loeb, a young man who died of cancer while working on the comic. The money raised from the comic went to a Scholarship Fund that Sam's father set up to remember his son.
Joss also donated his time to help a fan incentive to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina. He donated a 15 minute phone call with him to be auctioned off. With him onboard the fan campaign was able to get more cast and crew members from the verse to donate their time as well. This helped raise several thousand dollars for the Red Cross and the AKC Care Fund. During the years of 'BtVS' series run fans and members of the Buffy Posting Board held parties which raised over $60,000 for Make a Wish of Los Angeles, under his encouragement and leadership.
Joss's heart and his dedication to helping not only his local but also the global community have inspired fans of his work to do the same. Because of him, in 2004 the Angel Food Drive started and raised thousands of dollars for the LA Regional Food Bank. And because of the loyalty and generosity he inspires in others, the Whedonverse Multimedia Project came about. This was a fan-based effort to donate Whedonverse related DVD's and other items to libraries around the United States and the rest of the world.
